LC. Do I want to become one? At the moment, no. But I love to read and share breastfeeding knowledge with mommies out there, especially the ones who's still in confinement. Earlier of this week, a friend of mine who has just given birth about a week texted me, asking on breastfeeding. Her situation is like this. She does direct feeding, but at the same time she pump out her breast milk and supply her son with EBM. At the end of the day she still top up with formula milk. She observed that her baby needs 3-3.5oz per feeding. Each time she pump she can obtain about 3 oz. Then she was sad because she can't fully BF her child because she thought her milk supply is insufficient. She asked me on how to boost up milk production. I can see few problems here: 1. During confinement, why would you want to pump out your breast milk if you or your baby do not have any medical condition? 2. 3-3.5oz is too much for a newborn. What criteria are you looking for when you're about to purchase breast pump? As for me, those are the things that I consider as most important, arranged according to the degree of importance: 1. Double. This feature is important as it's time saving. 30 min for both sides of breast or 1 hour for the same job? 2. Electric. Yes I can't imagine myself pumping by pressing the manual handle of the breastpump. Must take a whole lot of work. 3. Hands free. My main purpose of buying breastpump is to use it at my workplace when the baby's not with me. Therefore I need something that's efficient and doesn't stop me from doing work. 4. Silent. I'll mostly use it in my lab/ office and also in meetings. I don't want to be the centre of attraction while pumping. 5. Economic. Yeah the pricing is important. I think every breastfeeding mother would dream to have Medela, especially the Freestyle, but not everyone can afford it. 6. Size of motor. Yes you don't wan...

I think this is the moment where my milk supply has reduced. After researching and readings, I discovered about power pumping . Power pumping is good to stimulate back your milk production. But you need to be patient in doing it. Doing it once won't give you fast results. Consistency is the key. Following is a diagram on how to do power pumping to boost your milk supply.  If you have enough milk for your baby, you don't need to do this or else you'll be oversupply. Oversupply sounds good because you can ensure that you have enough milk for your LO, but in reality it is BAD! You are at a higher risk to develop mastitis! Today my breast milk yield for 3 sessions is only 7 oz :( But I'll never give up. 1 and half year to go!!! Doakan omma berjaya susukan Hurrera sampai dua tahun ye...Semalam baru je teacher nya mintak tambah susu.. Mula2 masuk 12oz..Naik 5mo jadi 14oz..Now 6mo nak dalam 16oz.. Mula-mula memang no idea  on where to give birth . Bila kandungan dah 5 bulan macam tu, baru survey few medical centres . Masa tu baru nak risau kot-kot baby keluar awal ke huhu.. I BW dulu pastu baru physically pergi melawat medical centres yang berkenan di hati.  Medical centres tu mestilah memenuhi ciri-ciri di bawah: 1. Paling penting dekat dengan rumah . Malas sangat nak pergi jauh-jauh. Kot ada emergency ke, susah pulak. My workplace dengan rumah dalam setengah jam. So cari la dekat area Sungai Buloh, since I stay at Damansara Damai and my workplace kat Sungai Buloh. Lagipun senang husband kena ulang-alik ambil barang..tertinggal apa-apa ke. 2. Not too costly . Ni penting jugak. Takkanlah bersalin je nak habis belas-belas puluh-puluh ribu. Nanti lepas bersalin lagi nak guna duit lagi banyak, jadi kita simpan je la kat baby's future ye.. 3. Ada facilities yang okay. Penting ada operation theatre (OT), in case of emergency. Masa survey tu, ada tiga je ya...
